Strange Activity in the Neighborhood, 12/29/08

This week, 12/29/08, there has been some suspicious activity around the Waterford/Loch Road area. Monday night there was a white van driving slowly around the neighborhood, driving around several times. Tuesday, during the day, the Merchant family arrived home to a young man standing in their driveway. Once the young man noticed their car turn into their driveway, he asked them for $5. The Merchants house is on Loch Drive, but on the corner of Waterford beside the lake.

It is important that we keep our eyes and ears open and all take action to any unusual activity that we may see around the neighborhood. Especially this time of year when several families may not be home. Even if you're not sure if someone is home or out of town, it's better to be safe and contact the non-emergency line at the Police Department. Together, this is how we can prevent crime and keep our community safe. Please notify your block neighbors who do not have access to this email.

Neighborhood Watch Banquet

The WS Police Department held their Neighborhood Watch Banquet on Monday night, November 10. The purpose of the National Night Out Banquet was for the police department to reward and recognize the groups who took time out to host a National Night Out event. They also handed out certificates to the Watch Captains in recognition of all their hard work. Many, many thanks go out to our Watch Captain, Catherine Jourdan, for her hard work and dedication to getting Town & Country involved in the program once again! Also, thanks to each and everyone one of you who helped make our neighborhood National Night Out a success!

Neighborhood Watch Banquet

Dear Town and Country Neighborhood Watch Group,

The W-S Police wants to reward the Neighborhood Watch groups that participated in the National Night Out event in August. Everyone in our Watch group, Block Captains and residents alike, are invited to a BANQUET whether you attended National Night Out or not.

BANQUET DETAILS:
Monday, November 10th from 6:30-8:30pm
LOCATION: First Baptist Church 501 W Fifth St
They would like an RSVP by October 17th.

Tickets will be mailed out to those who RSVP in advance and you MUST have a ticket to receive a meal.

Here is part of the letter from the police department:

"The purpose of the National Night Out Banquet is for the police department to reward and recognize the groups who took time out to host a National Night Out event. The chairpersons and their members put a lot of time, effort and sweat (it was like 110 degrees on August 5th) into their event for their community. For this, we at the police department, say "thank you" and one way for us to do that is to reward those groups with a banquet."

So, this is a thoughtful gesture on the part of the police department and it might be fun to participate! Let me know as soon as possible. If your neighbors have emails please send one letting them know of this opportunity and if not perhaps you could call those without email and ask if they would like to attend... or you can take the body of this email and print it out, make copies and distribute to your residents.

Call or email if you have questions.
Catherine
